Paradoxes in 2021
“Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck” - Dalai Lama.
Throughout the year 2020, I was plagued with many thoughts. Thoughts that became questions, and questions that there were no binary answers for. On some days, these questions were too numerous that they kept me awake for nights on end. Key among these questions was why I and many others do not get as much as we want despite working twice as hard.
These questions led me to answers that led me to more questions, that led me to interesting individuals. These individuals taught me how to answer some of these questions, most of which contradicted things I very much believed before.
To understand some of the answers I came across, I had to understand paradoxes. A paradox is a statement or group of sentences that contradict what we know while delivering an inherent truth. The quoted sentence by the Dalai Lama is a paradox because it is contradictory and it makes you ask yourself “how is not getting what I want a stroke of luck?”
As we all begin a new journey through 2021 and beyond, it is important for us to understand and think in paradoxes. Not only do paradoxes open up your mind to new possibilities, but they also sometimes provide proof for things that go against what we intuitively expect.
To begin the New Year, I would like you to challenge yourself to ask questions about things that challenge you. I have! I am challenging myself by asking myself questions about leverage and how to scale my operations. You can too, I believe in you. Let me know what you think.
Have a blessed 2021, expect more articles this year, and please leave feedback.
Chucks.
Quite inspiring...
